Were she to have Clinical Depression it definitely would come on slowly and unless treated with drugs hang around for more than a month. But a more obvious reason that she was in fact not Clinically Depressed is that in all cases of patients with Clinical Depression there is an almost complete lack of libido hence she would have near zero desire for a sexual affair.
A more accurate description of her psychological behavior that resulted in affairs twice each time her husband went overseas is that her personality is a very self centered one and that she maybe narcisicistic and only her needs matter and others are there to serve her.

Clinical depression is a disease.
Depressed is not. The clinical part is a qualifier that changes things, and narrows the focus of the meaning.
It's not a joke, and I'd never minimize that disease in any way. But seriously, look up depressed in the dictionary, and on a thesaurus. Depressed can very much mean sad, despondent, or any number of other things, including being temporary in nature. Including pushing a button for that matter.
If you want to blame anyone, blame the psychiatrist who coined the disease as clinical depression. Regardless, you can't arbitrarily change the definition of the stand alone word depressed, even if some jackass mind shrink used that word in a TWO word disease. Again, clinical depression, and depressed, two different things.

I am a 71 year old male and I have suffered from depression since I was 7 years old. I have bipolar depression and clinical depression chronic ongoing. that last one means I've had it since I was child and I'll have it till the day I die. Which can't come soon enough. If you or somebody you know suffers from depression please get yourself or them some help. Be compassionate.
