I told Nick about this and he reminded me that he told our renters insurance that our f-tard landlord wouldn’t take our calls or respond to our emails when we came home from PA and found our refrigerator full of rotted bleeding soaking food because someone downstairs flipped an external switch that magically controlled our kitchen sockets. The renters insurance noted all of that and put all of that in their reports when they dealt with HIS insurance company. So Nick asked me to tell you all that and to report every dollar you spent on trying to clean up including rentals of supplies and amount of money spent at the laundromat (you may know this already, sorry). When we submitted our claim, they asked us to also include “hours spent cleaning up” as if we were a cleaning service, which was like $35/hr or something. Just FYI because you should be entitled to all of that back as well from your company or his.

To this day, I don’t know why I didn’t get angry, as I should have. Actually, I think I can chalk it up to being young and unaware of how ignorant the world can be. The late teen/early 20s version of myself would’ve gone off. At least I hope so. It could have been one of those situations that Chappelle mentioned once, where you’re confronted with something so racist, your only reaction is disbelief.
